From now on you can get a personal International Bank Account Number (IBAN) at SpectroCoin – a cryptocurrency wallet, exchange, debit card, and payment processing provider.

What is an IBAN?

IBANs are part of a standard numbering system intended to identify bank accounts from across the world. They consist of up to 34 characters, including a country code, two check digits, and a unique bank account number. IBANs are standardized globally,  allowing account information to be verified immediately before a transaction. This will ensure that transactions reach the end party and make international transactions secure and fast.

What is the benefit of having an IBAN with SpectroCoin?

In short, you no longer need to use your bank account to link cryptocurrency and fiat payments. From now on, you can make payments in euros directly from your SpectroCoin account on behalf of yourself –i.e. the sender (account holder) will be you, not SpectroCoin. This option opens endless possibilities.

Now you will be able to make or receive euro transfers to or from third parties (just like any other bank account). For example, you need to pay your utility bills, but you only have bitcoins. In the past, you would have exchanged bitcoins at SpectroCoin, withdrawn funds from SpectroCoin to your bank account, and then paid the bills (the money has to come from an account in your name). Now, you can pay straight from your SpectroCoin account and the receiver will see you as the sender, not SpectroCoin.

Who can claim an IBAN at SpectroCoin?

Currently, everyone, except US residents, can claim IBANs. We can issue IBANs to both: individuals and companies. In this blog post, we will provide a step-by-step guide showing how individuals can get IBANs.

Which countries support IBANs?

At SpectroCoin you can receive transactions from any country in the European Economic Area using IBANs.

How to get an IBAN number? 

To claim an IBAN at SpectroCoin, you need to click on your Euro wallet in the “Account” section of the webpage:

Then press “Claim IBAN”:

You will be forwarded to a page with a three-step process – profile verification, questionnaire and video verification. You need to complete all three steps, in that specific order, to receive your IBAN:

Step 1. If you have not yet done so, you need to verify your SpectroCoin account. We have prepared step by step instructions on how to verify your account in a previous blog post.

Step 2. After you have verified your account, the next step is to fill out the questionnaire:

First of all, fill in your missing personal information, such as National identity number (mandatory for Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian residents) or the equivalent and your place of birth. Information regarding your name, surname, nationality, and date of birth will be filled in automatically and cannot be changed.

Please do not forget to check the boxes if you are self-employed or are a politically exposed person (this applies to individuals who are or have been entrusted with prominent public functions like senior politicians, government members, senior executives of state-owned corporations, judicial or military officials, or persons know to be close associates such as family members). Once you have completed the first page of the questionnaire, click “Next”:

Then, you will have to provide your identity document details. Please note that the document details provided in the questionnaire have to match the identity document used for your SpectroCoin account verification.

In the “Document type” field, please select the type of identity document you hold. Make sure to fill in the fields for the document number, country, issuing authority, and validity dates as they are all mandatory.  Once all of the information is filled in, click “Next”:

You will then be forwarded to the “Personal contacts” page. There, in the first field, please choose your phone number type. Your phone number and your email address will be filled in automatically and cannot be changed.

The “Secondary phone number” and “Web page” fields are optional. Once you are finished filling out the personal contacts, click the “Next” button once again:

You will also have to provide detailed personal address information; including your country, municipality, city, street, house number, flat number (if you live in one), and zip code. If your correspondence address (the one you receive your mail at) is the same as your personal address, please make sure to check the box.

If it differs, please fill in the correspondence address details. Once all the information is filled in, click “Next”:

The final page of the questionnaire is dedicated to additional details about you. In the first field, please input the name of your workplace, in the second field input your job position. Then, in the third field, choose your occupation type from the options provided.

If you do not find your occupation type among the options, select “Other, ” and you will be able to type in your occupation.

Next, choose your main type of income from the options provided in the questionnaire. Once these fields are filled in, please also input your expected monthly account turnover, this is the total value of transactions made through your SpectroCoin account in a month.

Additionally, please fill in the amount of your main income per month, e.g., your salary. Make sure to mark the box to indicate that you are the beneficial owner of the funds. You can only claim an IBAN for your own SpectroCoin account; not for a third party. Finally, click “Submit”.

You will be forwarded to your questionnaire summary. Please make sure that all the information provided in the questionnaire is correct, and click “Confirm”:

Step 3. After your questionnaire has been approved you need to pass the third and final step – a Skype call. To do this, please select the “Video verification” option:

You will be forwarded to a window where you will be able to schedule a Skype call with one of our representatives. Please choose the most convenient day and time from the available options:

Next, you will need to input your Skype ID and click “Schedule time”:

Once you have done that, your Skype call time will be reserved:

You will also get an email message with the date and time of your Skype call.  You will be able to cancel the call via email if your schedule changes:

All that is left for you to do is wait for the call from our representative. Have the document you submitted for verification with you. Please note: the call will be recorded.

If you pass all of these steps, you should get your IBAN a few minutes after finishing the Skype call.
